| Description: | A serious value from one of Napa's most celebrated winemakers. Double Diamond, from the producers of Schrader, opens with layered, intriguing aromas of black currants, dark cherries, blackberry, cherry compote, toast and oak spice. The notes of herbs, pine cone, and dried earth. In the mouth, the palate is rich and juicy, bursting with big, rich flavor. Winemaker. Dark, almost black from the core straight to the rim. Aromas of purple and black fruit mix with notes of cassis, dark chocolate, baking spice and pencil lead on a forward, expressive nose. Full-bodied on the palate, the dark fruit is contrasted nicely by a core of bright acidity, with big, firm tannins offering structure through a long, lifted finish. Still young, this is nonetheless already impressive with some air, though should really shine with a few more years in the bottle. A serious value from one of Napa's most celebrated winemakers. |
