Silvio Nardi Brunello di Montalcino

Sangiovese Grosso

Vintage: 2017
Description: Tenute Silvio Nardi is a Tuscan wine estate founded in 1950 by Silvio Nardi with his purchase of Casale del Bosco's estate in Montalcino. The vineyards, located in a primarily hilly area that ranges from 460 to 1,575 feet above sea level, comprise 36 plots that extend to the east and west of Montalcino and are grouped into three estates. From Casale del Bosco comes the precious cru Brunello Poggio Doria, an elegant, aristocratic interpretation of Sangiovese. Casale del Bosco is located on the west side, offering elegant and complex wines. Manachiara, exposed to the east, offers full bodied and powerful wines. Sangiovese is the estate's tradition and has been planted on almost all of the estate's lands although, in 8 of the 80 hectares owned, different varieties can be found—from most traditional varieties like Colorino to international ones like Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Emilia, Silvio Nardi's youngest daughter, joined the business in 1985 and since 1990 has succeeded her father in the general management of the estate, and has undertaken a reorganization of the vineyards and the cellar.
