| Description: | 2023 Winemag.co.za – 2023 Chenin Blanc of Year - Best of Category – 95 pts From vineyards planted between 1977 and 1987. Inoculated in tank. Matured for 8 months in 400-litre barrels, two 500-litre amphorae and concrete eggs. Complex aromatics with top notes of hay and fynbos before pear, peach and citrus with some ginger in the background. The palate has dense fruit, punchy acidity and dry finish. Intensely flavoured with plenty of energy. 4 ½ Stars 2024 Platter's South African Wine Guide Subtle lily & elderflower aromas on 22 (94 pts), nectarine & pineapple richness has bright acid & chalky texture to counter, cohesive & composed from ferment/8 months on lees in old oak, terracotta amphora &, a first, concrete egg. Lovely mineral tautness & length. 93 Tim Atkin Mw 2023 Now sold as an Old Vine Project wine - its youngest component was planted in 1987 - this is an egg, terracotta amphora and older oak-aged white with layers of peaches, cream and citrus fruit and subtle, leesy complexity. A wine with welcome layers of complexity. 2023-28 91 pts Wine Advocate May 2024 The 2022 Family Reserve Chenin Blanc displays a weighted and mineral-rich profile, enhanced by citrus zest and waxy textures, with subtle undertones of nutty and peach skin notes. Medium-bodied and fresh, this wine is seamless and integrates into the palate with surprising focus as its incredibly food-friendly acidity struts across the mid-palate.
