Mezan Dist In Guyana D- Rum 750
Vintage: | 2005 |
---|---|
Description: | In hindsight I would have sipped this one last instead of second-to-last; it's a bit more austere than the Jamaica 2000. a bit drier but wondrously complex. It was distilled in the double wooden pot still from the original Port Mourant estate founded in 1732 (which may explain its nature). The nose has a slight funk with tropical fruits, peppercorn, eucalyptus, capsicum and mixed brown spices. The palate is fairly dry with flavors of balanced ginger, guava, banana and oaky citrus. There's a light heat and acidity in this dram. The finish ends with earthy minerality, burnt treacle and a touch of tobacco. Dry but beautiful. Almost Scotch-y in its character. |
