| Description: | Pietra Santa Estate, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cienega Valley, California 2012 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Rich, Chewy & Perfumy, Currants, Sappy Oak, Basil & Sage John & Phyllis Blackburn had been farmers in California for decades, when they bought the lovely Pietra Santa [sacred stone] Estate 25 miles east of Monterey. This vineyard, bisected by the San Andreas fault, dates back to the 1850s, and the old vine Cabernet grown here makes very fine, rich but accessible wine. The extended aging in French Oak barrels is perfectly balanced by the intense Cabernet fruit character. This is a great value with surprising complexity. Serving Suggestion: Fantastic with beef kabobs marinated with fresh herbs and garlic. Grilled stuffed potatoes with aged sharp cheddar and artisan smokehouse bacon bits. |
