"Light and open-textured, with pretty pear and citrus flavors that hover nicely on the deft finish. Drink now. 440,000 cases imported." (ws). "One of the Australian Chards to start it all here in the U.s., Bin 65 remains a solid value. The 2008 features hints of movie popcorn and peaches on the nose, enough tropical fruit to provide a plump texture and a soft, friendly finish." (we). Winery Notes:. Dr. Henry J. Lindeman ran a successful medical practice in Australia in the early 1840's. He turned to winemaking and first planted grapes in 1843 in Hunter Valley, New South Wales. From the outset Henry Lindeman's winemaking philosophy was to craft wines for everyday enjoyment. Today, Lindemans is the oldest continuously run winery in Australia. The Lindemans Bin Series wines are made with fruit sourced from key grape growing regions in Australia. The ability to source and blend grapes from different regions throughout the southern states allows us to produce wines of outstanding quality, regardless of varying vintage conditions. Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay is internationally recognized as one of the best value wines. Often referred to as "sunshine in a bottle," it highlights all that is best about the Australian lifestyle. Winemaking. Portions of the 2008 Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay underwent malolactic fermentation prior to blending, with parcels matured in a combination of French and American oak. Tasting Notes. The 2008 Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay showcases tropical fruit aromas, with stone fruit notes and hints of spice. A classic medium to full bodied Chardonnay with excellent varietal flavors of melon and peach. The palate is soft and smooth with spice hints across the long, balanced finish. Vintage. The 2008 vintage was warm to hot, with a prolonged heat wave in mid March. Grapes picked before the elevated temperatures were delivered to the winery in pristine condition, resulting in good varietal definition and balanced flavors.
