| Description: | It's not every month we have an opportunity to fea ture a wine as special as Ostatu's Rosado. This very limited production rosé from Alavesa, the most northerly, high-elevation sub-region of Rioja, is a staff and customer favorite year in and year out. Ostatu has been making wine here for over two hundred fifty years, and that engrained experience and familiarity with their situation comes across clearly in all their wines. The rosado is a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, and a little Viura, Rioja's most prominent white variety. Sourced from Ostatu's absolute highest vineyards, grapes retain great acidity and structure and are chosen specifically for their potential to make rosé (as opposed to being a by-product of red winemaking). This vintage is no exception to the excellence we have come to expect from this benchmark producer: bright and playful with intensity and a pop of succulent red-berried fruit.
