Description: | Family-owned-and-operated, Talenti's Pian di Conte estate is a standard-bearer of approachable, delicious Brunello that's nonetheless age-worthy and nuanced. Pierluigi Talenti, who came to Montalcino from his native Romagna in the 1950s, fell in love with the region's rolling hills and sundrenched vineyards, purchasing his land in the mid-twentieth century. It's easy to see why — located close to the medieval village of Sant'Angelo in Colle, Talenti's 90 acres (half under vine) sit at about 1,300 feet above sea level, where they are shielded from harsh weather by nearby Mount Amiata and fanned by breezes blowing from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The estate's 45 acres of vines come from eleven different plots, each with slightly different terroir, soil structure, and microclimates, and together, they offer a breathtaking panorama of this estate's southern Brunello subzone. Talenti has made a reputation for consistently crafting beautiful, terroir-driven Brunello wines that pack a terrific quality-to-price punch. |
