While it has been his My Favorite Neighbor wines that have been stealing the recent limelight, we just managed to secure some of his most sought-after and elusive wine the 97-point "Fracture" Syrah! The Booker property is located in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, the same growing district as other notable wineries such as Saxum, L'Aventure, Denner and Turley. As of April 2021, the vineyard has now received organic certification. Often described as a Booker flagship, Fracture is one of the world's great Syrahs. Only the softest, most velvety Syrah in barrel makes the cut for this dense and powerful wine. The namesake pays homage to the calcareous soil in their vineyard, the limestone causes it to 'fracture.' The 2019 is a monumental effort, receiving two 97-point scores from the critics! Jeb Dunnuck calls this ".incredibly classy" and Josh Raynolds thinks it's ".densely packed and impressively energetic in the mouth." An incredible match with tri-tip, roast beef or bbq pork, this is one Syrah you won't want to miss out on!. Alcohol levels are almost all under 14.5%, yet the tannins are ripe, and the wines have solid mid-palate density, integrated acid levels, and straight-up terrific overall balance. These all required plenty of air to show at their best, and I dont think there's a wine reviewed that won't benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age.". Densely packed and impressively energetic in the mouth, offering intense blackberry, cassis, kirsch, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors that firm up slowly through the back half. The floral and spice notes repeat emphatically on an impressively long, youthfully tannic finish that leaves smoky mineral and licorice notes behind.". It has a medium ruby-purple color with rich cassis on the nose, accented by nuances of tar, iron, bergamot and charcuterie. The medium-bodied palate has a silty structure and fresh acidity that highlights its spicy undertones, and it finishes very long. It's drinkable now but has a long life ahead in the cellar." |
