Herdade Anta De Cima Alfrocheiro Em Talha De Argilla,- Alentejo
Vintage: | 2018 |
---|---|
Description: | 100% Alfrocheiro. This shows the warmth of the Alentejo region. The nose is marked by the aging in clay, along with the variety's black fruits and spices, with further notes of quince, mint and chocolate. It's soft and mellow on the palate with a hint of wild fruit jam, but balanced out by its structure and minerality. Destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve more purity of the fruit. Aged a brief 4 months in 140-liter clay amphorae ("talhas"). The Argilla red wine is produced at the Tenreiro family's Herdade da Anta de Cima, which is located in the Montargil hills of the Alentejo region. In the 1950's the previous vineyards were torn out, and as a witness the old amphorae live on in the roofless cellar, protected by its thick stone walls. The first vintages of the white and red wine were produced in 2012. A new cycle begins, a project that combines tradition and modernity, and which seeks excellence in the production of this unique, inspiring, passionate product. |
