| Description: | This is a mid-bodied wine whose zesty acidity and herbal qualities counter the mid-weight concentration of orchard fruits, all of which is left lingering on the finish with a subtle saline minerality and almond. Pigato is a type of Vermentino, different enough to be considered on its own in the coastal Italian region of Liguria. The vineyards of Punta Crena are all within 1200 meters of the water and enjoy sea breezes that help keep the grapes healthy and happy. These are light, fun wines with no pretension. Ask Paolo if the family follows organic methods in the vineyards and hell laugh. "Were not 'organic'", he says, as if you had asked about some crazy new technology. We just do everything the same way our ancestors have for hundreds of years. The wines pair wonderfully with fish dishes and vegetables. |
