Opus One "Overture" Napa Valley Red Blend (From a Private Collection)
Cabernet Sauvignon and Blends from Napa Valley
Description: | 93 points Decanter. Stylish aromas, with vanilla oak and the fragrant trappings of class. Glossy, opulent and silky with lovely cassis fruit richness, albeit in a full-bodied, powerful frame with robust tannins and a firm spine of acidity. (AR) K&L Notes. Opus One's second wine, Overture is aged in new French oak and is composed of the same five varietals that define Opus One: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. From the producer: "The longest, coolest growing season recorded in a decade, 1994 started with a sunny and dry March and an early bud break. Summer was cooler than average, extending the growing season and the 'hang time' of the grapes. The wines are long-lived and profound.". |
