Dogfish Head Seaquench Ale

Dogfish Head Seaquench Ale

Beer - Domestic

Description: Dogfish Head SeaQuenchAle is a softly-tart and super-refreshing mash-up of three famously sessionable German beer styles combined with each other in sequence: Kolsch, Gose, and Berlinerweiss; collectively brewed with lime juice, Chesapeake sea salt, black limes, and a touch of coriander. This is a German inspired beer that is oceans away from the Reinheitsgebot. What better way to commemorate (and disintegrate) the 500th anniversary of this art-sensorship law than with a pint of beer made with scurvy-snubbing black limes and sea salt? It is the perfect day-drinking beer to replace your margarita or light lager on the beach, boat or apres-lawn-mowing chillax occasions. And it is super food friendly when paired with raw bar delicacies and citrusy salads. We put our creative thumbprint on this unique recipe by following this production method for SeaQuenchAle: First we brew a batch of straightforward Kolsch with lots of wheat and Munich Malt and we pitch a Kolsch yeast in it. Next we brew a slightly tart Gose with black limes, coriander and sea salt and blend that into the tank with the Kolsch. We start with the Kolsch first to grow the yeast in a more acid-neutral environment. Then we blend in the more tart lower ph Gose (with black lime, sea salt and coriander) and Berlinerweiss (with lime juice and lime peel) batches on top of the Kolsch once the yeast starts growing. SeaQuenchAle gets its name from this intentional sequence in which we add each beer to the fermentation tank. It also gets its name from the sea salt we use which we harvest from the mouth of the Chesapeake with help of the same fishermen we do our smoked oysters with. Technical notes Abv: 4.6 Ibu: 10. Producer Ever since the summer of 1995, we have been brewing, cooking, selling and talking everything beer. It's our pastime, our passion, our life. 22 years later, we're just as dedicated to bringing off-centered goodness to off-centered people through our beer, scratch-made spirits, great food, our very own Inn and our events around the country.
