| Description: | Firm tannins are holding everything in place right now. There's a tiny dip through the mid-palate before the fruit rushes back in to catch you. Redcurrant and cassis bud notes suggest that we aren't in over-ripe territory here, but it feels confident enough. It demonstrates how second wines can struggle in certain vintages, such as 2012, as they are sacrificed to maintain the quality of the grand vin - and this is even true with Baron de Brane, one of the best second wines on display.
