This ancient estate has 35 hectares of superior holdings in the prized Castelnuovo dell\u2019Abate zone, including the \u2018Pianrosso\u2019 vineyard (meaning \u2018red field,\u2019 a reference to the iron rich soils) and the \u2018Fonte\u2019 vineyard, which produces grapes for the Rosso di Montalcino.\r\nPlantings of Syrah, Cabernet, and Merlot are to the south, where the Orcia river provides a milder microclimate.
