Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto 750ml

Vintage: 2016
Winery: Casanova di Neri
Description: A grain merchant from Arno in Italy's Northeast, Giovanni Neri loved Brunello's austere, age-worthy character, and he believed that he could make a classic beauty from his new lands located east of Montalcino. Casanova di Neri's inaugural Brunello came with the 1978 vintage, and within a decade, the winery was winning prestigious awards with its full-bodied, aromatic, and elegant wines. Casanova di Neri's contemporary age began when Giovanni's son, Giacomo, joined his father in the vineyards and in the cantina. Over the past 50 years, the estate has worked to acquire prime vineyard plots, and today, the estate spans seven beautiful vineyards that range across 156 acres in the Brunello region, which offer a terrific diversity of microclimates, soil composition, exposure, and vine age. In addition to growing Sangiovese Grosso, the grape responsible for Brunello, Castello di Neri also grows Cabernet Sauvignon in its Pietradonice vineyard, a plot rich in onyx stone, which gives the wine its name. About a decade ago, Giacomo's son, Giovanni, joined the Casanova di Neri team as his father prepares to hand him the reins at this beloved Brunello estate.
