| Description: | Deep and dark purple with burgundy reflexes, a deep and dark clear core. The color effortlessly fades to garnet along the edges. Thin fast legs that show traces of this wine's color race down the side of the glass when swirled. Aroma's are medium in intensity with an array of pleasant dark and black-fruit, including juicy and tart black-cherry, blackberry and even hints of blueberry, are layered over aromas of black licorice, smokey tobacco notes and complex old-world hints of spice and oak. The taste is medium-bodied, well-structured and balanced with a slightly rustic character. Dry medium firm tannins and medium acidity that hits with a tangy burst mid-palate frame the fruit, spice and oak well and carry the flavors through to the finish. Sweet ripe as well as tart blackberry and black-cherry are integrated with Dolcetto's classic black-licorice component. Exotic spice and white pepper mixed with smokey tobacco, a slight hint of Italian Piedmont tar and toasted oak round out the juicy, bright and fresh flavors of this wine. The finish is medium in length, clean and lingering with flavors of dark tangy juicy fruit, spice and licorice that are supported by this wine's rustic structure. |
