Winery: | Ochota Barrels |
Description: | A delicious red wine made from Mourvèdre grapes planted in the 1860s - the second oldest plantings in the world. The fruit was fermented whole-cluster with ambient yeasts - partially carbonic. The fruit was hand-harvested and bottled unfiltered. Taras Ochota was a punk rock musician long before becoming a winemaker. Now music and wine course through his veins and he names all his cuvées after inspirational songs or bands. "From the North" is from an album of the Swedish hardcore band, Raised Fist. Taras sees this Mourvèdre as punk, as in, against the grain of what you would think of as a burly Barossa wine. In fact, this wine is only about finesse and vibrant fruit that will age marvelously for years to come. |
