Winery: | Château Belle Assise Coureau |
Description: | After being owned and managed by the Brun family since the 19th century, the Château was bought in 2013 by a group of friends : Jean Pierre Beltoise (former great car racer and winner of the Monaco Grand Prix F1), Alain Garitey and Lionel Gallais. It is a vineyard of 15.5 hectares around the estate. Paul Junet who owns Clos Junet, is also the winemaker of Belle Assise Coureau. The vineyard is planted to 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc, and the wine is aged 70% in new oak and 30% in one year old barrels for 16 months average. The high proportion of Cabernet Franc in the blend makes this a unique Saint-Émilion, and we tasted this 2018 and positively loved it. Saint-Émilion is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the Bordeaux region in Southwestern France. In the heart of the country of Libournais, in a region of wine hills, Saint-Émilion is a medieval city located at the crossroads of Bordeaux, Saintonge and Périgord. The grape they specialize primarily is the Merlot grape, as well as using Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon for blending. |
