Description: | Wine Advocate 97 Points - "There's no mistaking this wine for anything but Brunello. The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows beautiful continuity, crescendoing on the nose and palate in synchronicity. There are aromas of grilled watermelon, red cherry, garden herb and violet, and there is a charred note that recalls the toasted oak. The bouquet balances out beautifully, but you do get considerably more power on the palate thanks to the oomph of 15% alcohol and young tannins that get under your gums. Give this wine a few more years of bottle age.". The wines from Ciacci Piccolomini are particularly known for delivering flavor-saturated complexity, full-body vinosity, and finely textured, mouth-filling tannins, all in an elegant fashion. They also have a great story behind them! The history of the central palazzo goes back to the 1600s when it was the Bishop of Montalcino's home, but it was the noble Ciacci-Piccolomini d'Aragona family who later set the stage for the great wine estate it is today. The countess Elda Ciacci, having no heirs, gave everything to her estate manager, Giuseppe Bianchini. Having farmed the land himself over the years, he already had ideas for improvements that would yield world-class wines that he could sell abroad. Among his great moves was making a separate bottling from the Pianrosso vineyard, which he knew to be exceptional. Today his children carry on making some of the finest wines in the world available to us all, and at a relative bargain!. We suggest taking the time to decant for several hours, or enjoy an opened bottle over the course of several days with rich, flavorful meals. |
