Caol Ila 12 Year Old
Description: | Caol Ila 12 Year Old Caol Ila's name (say "Cull Eela") comes from the Gaelic for "Sound of Islay". Built in 1846 near Port Askaig, the costly establishment of this remotest of coastal Islay distilleries bankrupted Hector Henderson, its first owner. However, the single malt made in this hidden cove, although never easy to find, was always sought out for its combination of an unmistakable Islay character with siblime drinkability. Typically pale golden and peated, today's Caol Ila remains true to its traditions. Not as pungent or heavy as some of its neighbours and remarkably fresh-tasting, it is yet deceptively intense on the finish. It has all the fresh sea-air aromas and smoky-dry spicy flavours of an expressive, Appetising Islay malt. -From the producer |
