Seghesio Zinfandel "OLD VINE" Sonoma County 750mL
Vintage: | 2022 |
---|---|
Description: | The Seghesio wines seem to always light up our mouths with a combination of great flavors and freshness that you just don't get in many other Zinfandels. The consistent track record for high scores on their wines have earned them places on Wine Spectator's "Top 100" List, and we think they are a shoe-in to make it on that list again!. Seghesio Family Vineyards was established in 1895 when Italian immigrant and winemaker Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in what is now Sonoma's Alexander Valley. Seghesio's Old Vine bottling comes from diverse lots of Zinfandel that span the Sonoma landscape. Each of these lots is produced under the careful eye of winemaker Andy Robinson, and he blends a small amount of Petite Sirah to honor century old traditions, as well as providing color and structure. For Andy, "Old Vine" means that the vines are at least 50 years old, and for this wine, he utilizes grapes from exceptional vineyards that are closer to 75 years old on average. Andy believes in Zinfandel's capacity to make fascinating wines that are bold, complex, ageworthy and have something to say. This is something you can only get from old vines, and while their yields may be low, the quality elevates the profile of the Seghesio Zinfandels. Earning a lovely 93-point score from Wine Spectator. Wine Spectator 93 Points - "Like a briar patch in a glass, this Zin offers spirited raspberry and cherry flavors that take on underbrush, dried sage and white pepper flavors before finishing with zesty tannins. Drink now through 2032." |
