| Description: | 48% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. For its age, it has held onto its deep ruby color, showing only slight tinges of garnet around the meniscus. Take an hour to decant (more if you have time) for it to show its full potential. Bottle aging aromas hit first starting with earth and gravel. Swirling brings out indistinguishable dried red fruits which finally leads you to the red flower florals, rose, and lavender. Further along, distinct aromas of rhubarb, strawberry, black cherry, saddle leather, and cooked berries show through. Additions on the palate include black current, blueberry-bramble, meaty almost jerky-mesquite, cooked blackberry, vanilla, toast, and truffle. Dry! The acidity (medium plus) and tannins (high) have held this wine in balance. The low intensity of primary fruits and bottle aging have made the tertiary notes have come alive. The tannins have evolved to a fine grain texture, overall showing a medium plus body and finish. There is A Lot going on in this bottle. Perhaps more than what the initial pendants had given credit! |
