Ormes De Pez (750ML)

Ormes De Pez (750ML)

From Saint-Estephe

Vintage: 2014
Description: 93 JS / 92 Ag / 92 Vm / 91 Jd / 91 We / 90 Ws. Earthy and savory, this starts rich and mellow then slowly turns in the stern direction. A lot of personality and character, and power for long ageing. Try in 2020. James Suckling. The 2014 Ormes de Pez is dark, powerful and quite intense. Plum, black cherry, smoke, grilled herbs and gravel give the wine its virile personality. Broad and ample in construction, the 2014 is also incredibly young and shuts down quickly in the glass, which is probably a good sign of its structure and potential to age. It is best cellared for at least a few years. This is a strong showing from the Cazes family. The blend is 47 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 42 % Merlot, 7 % Cabernet Franc and 2 % Petit Verdot. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. A wine to sink into and share, one of the best values in this line up and very easy to recommend. Expect blackberry and loganberry fruit, fragrant and brambled showcasing the ripeness that was acheiveable in St Estèphe in the 20014 vintage. No need to wait too long, although it will continue to age, enjoy the mint leaf and fennel waves that unwind with the fruit. Fresh acidities, juicy finish. 45% new oak. Harvest September 29 to October 10. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux. While the 2015 wasn't presented, the 2014 Chateau Ormes de Pez from a bottle purchased locally showed beautifully. A blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, is reveal a deep purple color as well as rich, concentrated notes of ripe black cherries, licorice, singed cedar, and tobacco. Concentrated, medium-bodied, incredibly pure and focused, with impressive balance, it's certainly an outstanding wine that's going to benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age and shine for 15+. It's a classic, well-made 2014 I'd happily drink. – Jeb Dunnuck. The wine has the firm tannins of the appellation, moderated by the black-currant fruitiness of the vintage. Spice and the dry structure will allow it to age well. With the same winemaking team as Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, it will age well. Drink from 2022 - Wine Enthusiast. Lively, with a mix of pomegranate, blood orange and bitter cherry notes, flecked with savory and backed by a pebbly finish. Features latent depth and should unwind with moderate cellaring. Best from 2019 through 2025. James Molesworth, Wine Spectator. From the Cazes stable, this is always a good value and punches well above its weight. The color is black with a cherry vanilla nose. A balanced wine with rich, ripe fruit that dominates the palate, good extract and balance. A charming wine. Gvwm Staff
