Description: | Described by Parker as "the reference point for Burgundy.among the noblest and purest expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Burgundy", Leroy's wines are legendary, as is its history. Founded in 1868 by wine merchant Francois Leroy in Auxey-Duresses, Maison Leroy continued to expand throughout the 19th century. The family purchased half of Domain de la Romanee-Conti in 1942. For decades, the remarkable Lalou Leroy ran the family's negotiant business for decades before taking over winemaking in 1988. Practicing sever pruning and crop-thining, Leroy produces extremely low yields, but wines with supreme concentration. The 0 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Blanc will be an impressive introduction to one of the most prestigious names in the whole of Burgundy. Like a well composed novel, the wine opens with fresh apricot, honeysuckle and river rock. Secondary notes unfolded to taste of honey, vanilla and nuance of melted butter. Each note has its own resonance yet blended masterful to create a full experience of this wine. |
