Similar to many connoisseurs, he has lamented that no other California Pinots are in that league for the âWow' factor + long-term enjoyment. Hence, Oates enlisted the substantial talents (and resources) of the 100 point Insignia team at Joseph Phelps, featuring their winemaker who's an alumnus of Williams Selyem. They have collaborated to create one barrel of select Pinot to contend with the aforementioned Cult legends. Note: per the name, only One Barrel has been crafted (that's just 6 bottles per state), so please don't delay. Porthos Team Tasting Notes âOnly the second release in history, this ultra-rare (one barrel) Pinot features a cashmere-like smooth texture and a plethora of exotic spices guaranteed to enhance a wide array of culinary delights. The brilliant scarlet color leads to voluptuous notes of pomegranate, kirsch, black tea, baking herbs, and a provocative finish (60+ seconds) that offers savory hints of creamy oak, black truffles and Christmas spices on the finish.
