| Description: | For those who love the white wines from the Rhone Valley, we have found a gem of a wine for you, and it might be the best value out of California! After several years learning from and working for some of the Central Coast's most sought-after producers, owner and winemaker Curt Schalchlin decided to go his own way. He rapidly made a name for himself within the "Cal-Rhone Community" as one of the hot new producers of Syrahs, Grenaches, Viognier, and blends, and he's now regarded as one of the stars of the Central Coast. This Syrah comes from the recently formed San Luis Obispo Coast Ava, yet has fruit from some well-established vineyards, such as White Hawk. Aged for 23 months in French oak barrels (of which 14% were new), Curt writes his tasting notes like a story. His tasting notes for this wine read: "As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting shadows upon the winding path, I followed the scent of elderberries and wild ivy that filled the air. The journey back home led me through fields of pomegranate trees and tobacco plants, their fragrances intertwining with aromas of black cherry and dark chocolate. Along the way, I stumbled upon a hidden grove where fig trees grew abundantly and the earth exuded the scent of thyme and rosemary. With each step I felt a sense of nostalgia creeping in, guiding me closer to the familiar comforts of home." |
