Aldo Conterno "IL FAVOT" Langhe Nebbiolo

Aldo Conterno "IL FAVOT" Langhe Nebbiolo

Vintage: 2021
Description: This is a fantastic wine for anyone who wants a moer friendly take on the classic Nebbiolos from heart of the Barolo zone. Made from younger vines in the estate's Bussia plots, with maceration of the skins for only 6-8 days, this is made to be a more easy-going experience of Aldo Conterno's famous style, which combines old-world charms with a touch more polish and openness. The wine was appropriately aged in oak for only a few months so that the lighter intensity of its earthy-fruited character is not drowned out, but imbued with a subtle, soft woodinesss and oak spice (vanilla, cinnamon). Neither filtered nor fined. "In 1950 Aldo decided to leave for America with the dream of creating a winery with the help of his uncle who was already living in California. The period spent in the United States was for him a constructive and unforgettable experience which, however, following the occurrence of some situations, he had to abandon, thus deciding to return to Italy to work for his father's company. When Giacomo passed the company to his sons in 1961, the winery was already a prestigious reality recognized throughout much of the country. In Aldo's heart, however, the five years spent in the United States left alive the desire to create his own company. Thus, after a long period of working alongside his brother, Aldo decided to carry on that dream interrupted in America by purchasing the "favot" estate and founding "poderi Aldo Conterno" in 1969. Today the company is run by Aldo's three sons: Franco, Stefano and Giacomo who, following in their father's footsteps, carry on the family tradition." - Winery Notes
