It's a powerhouse of a Barsac, boasting a light gold color as well as a huge, exotic perfume of buttered oranges, tropical fruits, lemon curd, and tropical fruits. Deep, full-bodied, thick and opulent on the palate, it stays relatively light on its feet and balanced. It's a thrill a minute and doesn't pull any punches, and I promise it will put a smile on your face. Drink it any time over the coming 20-25 years.-Jeb Dunnuck. The first bottle of 2016 Doisy-Daëne was corked. The second is clean and precise on the nose, offering honeycomb, lanolin, crushed rocks and light yellow flower aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is very well balanced, and a fine bead of acidity cuts through the intense botrytized fruit. Very harmonious and poised, with impressive intensity on the finish. This is a marvelous Sauternes. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media. Barrel Sample. This wine has great freshness, shot through with acidity and a core of dry botrytis. The wine is rich while also structured. It will certainly be a wine to age.-Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast. There's a wealth of rich, ripe apricots and sweetly fragrant peaches here, as well as a gently tropical edge. The palate is fleshy and richly sweet and offers smooth orange-marmalade flavors. Striking elegance and length here. A blend of semillon and sauvignon blanc. Drink or hold. - James Suckling. Pale lemon colored, the 2016 Doisy Daëne is a little closed, opening out to reveal lime blossoms, Mandarin peel, candied lemon peel and peach blossoms scents with hints of spice cake and crème brûlée. The palate offers an incredible array of citrus and spice layers with fantastic freshness and length.-Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate. This has a wide range of white peach, yellow apple and green fig flavors that show good zip and brightness for the vintage, with a long honeysuckle note lifting the finish. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator. I love the ginger-spiced quality that is so evident in the sweet wines this year, a gorgeous addition that deepens the experience. This feels like a drop of luxury, and on a second tasting I covet the seams of minerality that are clearly evident. A rich style.-Jane Anson, Decanter. Flowers, white peach, apricot and honeyed pineapple are all over the place. Rich, sweet, juicy, fruits, roasted nuts, tropical fruits and apricot are enjoyed in the finish. 93 Points-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider. Serious stuff. Very precise. Racy edge that reminds me of something medical – a refreshing pine disinfectant? Lots of energy. Valérie Lavigne has taking an interest in this for some time. A worthy memento of the late Denis Dubordieu.-Jancis Robinson.
