Badia Coltibuono Chianti Classico

Vintage: 2020
Description: Organically Farmed. Sangiovese w/ Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo & Colorino. Badia a Coltibuono's vineyards are in warmer areas of southern Chianti Classico, in Vagliagli and Gaiole, with a significant amount of ancient marine sands and some calcareous clay. Mixed with the vibrant acidity and ripe sour cherry (Morello) notes of traditional Chianti Classico, the wines here tend to have softer textures, a finessed delivery of aromas and flavors, and some darker tones depending on the character of the vintage (like black cherry, violet/iris, tobacco & tea-leaf),. Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points - "Wild herbs and pure red fruits are expressive in the 2020 Chianti Classico, with tomato leaf and raspberry liqueur. Medium bodied, with ripe tannins and a warming yet weightless finish, it has a profile of black cherry, tea leaf, and saline earth. Pure and classic, this is a killer value. Drink 2023-2033.". James Suckling 92 Points - "Fresh and sour cherries, raspberries, lemons, slate and cement on the nose. Medium-bodied, crunchy and vibrant with fine tannins and bright acidity. So drinkable now.". As we know it today, Badia a Coltibuono (which means Abbey of the Good Harvest) dates back to the middle of the eleventh century, though the site has ancient Etruscan roots.
