| Description: | A family estate spanning 5 generations, the Clos de la Hurvaniere lies in the heart of the Pays d'Auge. The Groult's 65 acres of orchards yield 50 varieties of apples, which are either sweet, bitter-sweet or acidic. No use of pesticides or fertilizer, no caramel or sugar added, and no pear. The ciders are double-distilled in very small old Charentais stills. Groult is the only producer left who still uses wood to activate the still, who ages his cider up to 10 months before the distillation, and one of the few to believe in ageing Calvados. |
