Description: | 90 Pts - Wine Advocate. The 2016 Assyrtiko is unoaked and comes in at 13.5% alcohol. Clean, fresh, beautifully balanced and just a little earthy, this has good concentration, length on the finish and a serious feel. There's just a hint of lemon, but that will pull into the whole well. It's a wine with the solidity to hold up to food or the freshness to enjoy on its own. It will probably do a bit better with food. A very good value, it should hold nicely for several years, too, maybe more. Winemaker Notes. This wine is a classic benchmark of the variety and its homeland. A vibrant aromatic cocktail of sea-breeze freshness and citrus fruits with honeyed undertones. Bonedry, brightly acidic with a textural mineral smokiness and a food-begging finish. Background. As of 2011 the Eu changed the classification of wines. Pdo (Protected Designation of Origin).
