Description: | 90 pts Vinous/Neil Martin Aug 2018 The 2017 Chardonnay was matured 30% in new French oak and the rest in second-fill barrels for 12 months instead of 14 months. It has a fragrant, quite powerful bouquet of yellow plum, nectarine, light almond and a touch of vanilla emerging with time. The palate is slightly viscous on the entry, edging toward a more buttery style of Chardonnay that feels a little worked, and yet there is no doubting it is a delicious wine with a smooth, crowd-pleasing finish. Not an intellectual Chardonnay, but I guarantee you will finish the bottle. 4 ½ Stars 2019 Platter's South African Wine Guide Younger vineyards than reserve, less oak, less new, still well-crafted, wild ferment, barreled 12 months 17 (93 pts) a delight, oozes personality; lemon/lime intensity, melba toast a brightly fresh finish, almost in its fruit/acid juxtaposition. |
