Description: | Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington State has a long history of winegrowing. Built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery's roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition. In 1967 under legendary California winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, a new line of premium vinifera wines was introduced called Ste. Michelle Vintners. This vineyard, Cold Creek, was planted in eastern Washington in 1972. And then, f our years later, Ste. Michelle Vintners built a French style winery Chateau in Woodinville, and changed its name to Chateau Ste. Michelle. Cold Creek Chardonnay is known for its concentration and intensity due to the 40-year-old vines of the vineyard and warmth of the site. It has a decadent style with ripe fruits and a toasty character. Look for baked apples and sweet yet tangy lemon meringue in the nose and mouth. The winery ages this Chardonnay in new oak because it gives this wine nicely integrated vanilla and toast flavors on the finish. |
