| Description: | Taburno, the D.o.c. around the town of Benevento, is one of Campanias three superior winegrowing zones. Cantina del Taburno, the regions super-high quality cooperative, focuses on Campanias distinctive indigenous varietals, with Falanghina being one of its specialties. Sporting a lovely green-gold color, the Cantinas Falanghina offers an especially intense, perfumed nose of freesia, pear and melon. In the mouth the wines pineapple and pear fruit characters announce themselves before segueing to a distinctive, vibrant mid-palate of perfumed minerals, lemon and wintergreen. The Cantinas Falanghina finishes clean and zesty with reprises of the wines tropical fruit nuances, refreshing green herbal overtones, and dissolved mineral impressions. Stunningly delicious and offering refreshment rare in wines from such southern origins. This is a splendid southern Italian white to be enjoyed over the coming two years with grilled or sauted prawns, calamari, grilled ahi tuna, dishes featuring fresh mozzarella, and eggplant lasagna. |
