Tin Cup Whiskey 10 Year Old
Description: | Tincup 10 Year Old Whiskey Hard to find in stock!Tincup 10 is a blend of rye, corn and malted barley, aged 10 years in American oak barrels with a #3 char. The Tincup 10 bottle design mirrors its predecessor with a hexagonal shape embossed with mountain references and a new black and red label. The signature Tincup metal cap is also found atop the bottle, inspired by tin cups used by miners in the old Rocky Mountain mining town of Tin Cup, Colorado. On the nose for Tincup 10 are notes of cinnamon, pine, honey, and freshly cut grass, the company says. The palate contains sweet pepper, leather and raisins, before a finish of caramel and biscuits"I began distilling in 1972, just three months after moving to Colorado from Missouri at the age of 22," says Jess Graber, the master distiller behind Tin Cup American Whiskey. "My neighbor left me his 10 gallon still and I began tinkering with it in my spare time, reading up on distilling techniques in library books and experimenting at home. I guess I found my calling, because after 40 years, distilling is still my passion."The name "Tin Cup" is "a nod to Colorado's first whiskey drinkers â the miners that came through looking for gold and drank their whiskey out of tin cups," says Garber. "The cap works as a cup too â you can use it to share with friends." The whiskey has a copper color, along with an aroma of roasted corn, caramel and spice. Notes of toasted rye, vanilla, butterscotch and caramel dominate the palate, and lead to a warming yet short finish.Tincup 10 Year is made just like their standard Tincup American Whiskey bottling. The mash bill is 2 parts corn and one part rye with a splash of malted barley. Aged in American oak, char #3 barrels. It is brought to bottling proof with Rocky Mountain spring water. This release is available nationally, but with limited availability. |
