Description: | 92-94 Jd / 88-90 Wa. I loved the 2018 La Mauriane, which should surpass both the 2015 and 2017 (i wasn't able to taste the 2016). Coming from an organically farmed vineyard and a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, aging in 60% new French oak, it has an awesome bouquet of black raspberries, subtle cassis, spice, and flowers. Incredibly elegant, full-bodied, with fine tannins and excellent length, it's a hidden gem well worth seeking out. - Jeb Dunnuck. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 La Mauriane displays quite a lot of cedar at this stage with a core of baked cranberries, blackberry tart and plum preserves plus hints of chocolate box and menthol. Full-bodied with a firm line of grainy tannins and loads of red and black fruit preserves layers, it has a spark of dried herbs freshness on the finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate |
