Brewer Clifton Chardonnay
Description: | This bottling is comprised of five vineyards, most of which are within our estate and managed by our own team. Those sites which anchor the bottling are Mount Carmel, 3-D and Gnesa supplemented by fruit sourced from Zotovich and Sweeney Canyon. All of the vineyards were interpreted identically in the cellar in the exact same fashion as our vineyard specific bottlings employing solely neutral cooperage for fermentation and subsequent aging. Aromas of lemon, white flower, white sage and crisp green apple give way to flavors of lemon oil, white peach and brine. Very linear and focused in the mouth leaving a drying, almost crystalline salty finish. Region Description. Commercial vineyards were literally non-existent in the region until the 1890's. In 2001 it gained its AVA recognition. The Santa Rita Hills run east to west inside the Santa Ynez Valley. The valley creates a natural channel allowing cool ocean air from the Pacific Ocean to flow through the valley. The micro climate created in the Santa Rita Hills area is well-suited for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. |
