Description: | 95 Jm / 94+ Wa / 92-94 Bh. Blanchot Dessus is one of Chassagne Montrachet's finest vineyards on the very southern end of the famed Montrachet Grand Cru climat. The 2.7 acre vineyard sits on a very gentle south-facing slope which differentiates it from Le Montrachet, but it does, however, share an almost identical aspect and soil to Criots Batard Grand Cru. It also possesses similar soils to Le Montrachet. Mid lemon yellow. A little fuller and richer from this site, less immediately mineral. A huge weight of fruit on the palate with the perfect definition, with stunning depth both from the vineyard and the vintage. Drink from 2027-2036. Tasted: October 2022. Five Stars. –Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy. The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Blanchots Dessus is especially good, bursting with aromas of orange zest, crisp stone fruits, white flowers, nutmeg and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, it's deep, concentrated and complex, with an impressive sense of completeness, concluding with a long, saline finish.-William Kelley, The Wine Advocate. Tasting note: Prominent petrol and mineral reduction scents add breadth to the poached pear and floral-suffused nose. Once again, there is an absolutely gorgeous mouthfeel to the powerful but seductive larger-scaled flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also buffers the notably firm acid spine shaping the impressively persistent and well-balanced finale. This is excellent and recommended. Sweetspot, Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound |
