Centopassi Grillo âRocce di Petra Longa' 750ml - Stanley's Wet Goods
From Palermo, Sicily, Italy
Vintage: | 2022 |
---|---|
Description: | Centopassi is the winemaking division of the Libera Terra cooperatives that cultivate Sicilian lands that have been confiscated from the mafia. They chose their name from the Italian movie 'I cento passi' aka 100 Steps, about the life of Peppino Impastato, a left political activist who opposed and ultimately helped to bring down the mafia in Palermo. This particular bottle is dedicated to a trade-unionist who was murdered by the mafia, and the vineyard can be recognized by a 100 foot tall stone (the Pietra Lunga) nearby. The wine is certified organic, using native yeast to ferment with the juice resting on its lees for 7 months in steel vats. |
