Description: | 94 pts Wine Advocate Issue #220 Aug 2015 The 2012 Malbec Finca La Escuela is one of five Malbecs from the Finca La Escuela vineyard within the newly-delimited Paraje Altamira appellation. The other four are limited cuvées from different soils (one barrel of each, so an academical/educational wine of 300 bottles). The vineyard was planted in 1996 by Alejandro Sejanovich with three different Malbec massale selections from old vineyards. The nose is incredibly fresh and subtle with perfect ripeness and unnoticeable oak that is perfectly folded into the fruit and showing in the shape of faint spices. The palate is medium-bodied, but feels light, with great freshness and refined tannins that have a subtle, harmonious minerality and a supple, almost salty finish. This is a superb expression of Altamira, precise and clean. 2,700 bottles produced. |
