N.V. Roederer Estate Brut 375 ml

From Anderson Valley

Description: 2018 Wine Spectator Top 100: #27. "Lovely yeast roll and apple aromas lead to supple yet lively citrus, blanched almond and spice flavors, that linger on the finish. Drink now. -Tim Fish" (ws). "The current release of the Nv Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes long and ultra fresh. 90,000 cases produced." (wa). "Slightly juicy and hinting at a suggestion of apples as well as a scant note of yeast in its fairly direct, moderately rich aromas and similarly a wine that leans more to fruit than to autolysis in its up-front, lemon-tinged flavors, Roederer's latest Brut bottling gives emphasis to its Chardonnay component and flirts with a touch of sweetness throughout its length. A plentifully bubbled effort that earns recommendation for its likeably fruity qualities, it ultimately comes up a bit short on Champenoise complexity. Reviewed: December 2021" (cg). "This crisp, fruity and citrus-accented wine has plenty of green apple and lemon flavors, brisk bubbles and a clean, tangy finish. A flavor of fresh-baked bread and a softer texture develop with time in the glass. -Jim Gordon" (we). Winery Notes:. Roederer Estate Brut, the first California sparkling wine produced by Champagne Louis Roederer, builds upon a 200-year tradition of fine winemaking that has made Roederer Champagne among the most sought-after in the world. Winemaker Notes:. The Roederer Estate Brut is crisp and elegant with complex pear, spice and hazelnut flavors. It is fresh and lightly fruity with great finesse and depth of flavor. Winemaking:. Roederer's winemaking style is based on two elements: ownership of its own vineyards and the addition of oak-aged reserve wines to each year's blend or cuvee. All the grapes for the Anderson Valley wines are grown on the Estate. Oak-aged wines from the Estate's reserve cellars are added to the blend, creating a multi-vintage cuvee in the traditional Roederer style. Only the cuvee (first pressing of 120 gallons/ton) is used; no premiere or deuxieme taille. The fermentation takes place in high-grade stainless steel tanks at 65 degrees Fahrenheit. None to minimal malolactic fermentation is used in order to ensure that the wines age well and retain the fresh, somewhat austere style that is one of the characteristics of Roederer wines.
