Podere Forte Petruccino (750ML)

From Orcia

Vintage: 2020
Description: 93 Vm / 93 Fs / 93 Fb / 90 Wa / 90 JS / 16.5 Jr. The 2020 Petruccino is impossible to ignore-complex, with a brooding bouquet of crushed rocks giving way to dried black cherries, violet and lavender-tinged florals. This is seductive and elegant, with polished red fruits and sweet spices that swirl above a core of sour orange and zesty acidity. Red plums and hints of clove linger as the 2020 finishes gently tannic yet fresh, inviting the taster back to the glass.-Eric Guido, Vinous Media. Medium ruby red with a brightening edge. On the nose, fine aromas of sour cherry and wild strawberry are underpinned with spiced aromas of black pepper and dark chocolate. On the palate it's dense and juicy, undoubtedly fruit-driven with a good balance between acidity and tannin.-Falstaff. 100% Sangiovese; aromas of morel cherry, juniper and a hint of black pepper. Medium-full with a rich mid-palate, this is beautifully balanced with very good acidity, and notable persistence. This has lovely varietal purity as well as outstanding harmony, and an appealing style. Approachable now, better over the next 5-8 years, with peak in 10 years.-Tom Hyland, Forbes. The organic and biodynamic Podere Forte 2020 Orcia Petruccino is all Sangiovese with a good amount of inner power and density. The wine opens to dark fruit aromas, black berry, cinnamon, sweet spice and toasted herb. It offers a soft, oak-driven and very contemporary interpretation of this Tuscan grape, in this case, from a very hot vintage.- Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate. This is stellar everyday drinking. Sangiovese on full beam. Think pithy dried cherry, dried thyme, rosemary and tomato bush. The finish, skittish, firm and energetic, with an Mo of savory, food-friendly vibes. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink now.-James Suckling. 100% Sangiovese. Older, higher vines than the entry-level Villaggio. Organic and biodynamic. Perfumed, energetic nose. And then some pretty ripe fruit but with good freshness and drive.-Jancis Robinson
