Hess Collection Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder

Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2018
Description: ~ Winery's Notes This wine delivers the complexity, beauty, and structure we have come to expect from our mountain fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon lives at the heart of the wine with its presence revealed through aromas of wild mountain raspberry and cocoa. Elegant notes of violets signal the presence of Malbec, which we integrate to develop a softness on the palate. The 2018 vintage is perfectly structured and led by black fruits, with mouth-filling layers of cassis framed by vanilla notes. The nearly two-year wait in the most premium barrels once again delivers a well-rounded wine as elements of oak spice and creamy milk chocolate linger on the lengthy, pleasing finish. Wine maker notes Our signature Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our estate Veeder Hills Vineyard. The elevation of this vineyard ranges from 600-1,120 feet, and its steep slopes and sedimentary clay and shale soils restrict root growth, resulting in Mount Veeder's hallmark small berries with intense fruit flavors. True to its appellation, this wine possesses dark concentrated fruit flavors and robust tannins. Producer As the first of the Hess Family Wine Estates wineries, Hess Wines is now releasing its 30th Mount Veeder vintage from vineyards first planted in 1978. True to his vision of what a New World wine should be, Donald Hess established his winery on the volcanic slopes of Mount Veeder in the Napa Valley and defined a whole new approach to winemaking. Along with its mountain vineyards, Hess Wines has won acclaim for its other estate vineyards in Pope Valley and near the Carneros growing region of the Napa Valley and has long-standing partnerships on the North Coast with family-focused growers who share Donald Hess's vision of sustainability and quality. Hess Wines offers three distinct tiers of wines from Mount Veeder, from Napa Valley, and Hess Select, which sources fruit from the North and Central Coasts of California. Hess Wines has distinguished itself as a premium producer of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
