The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru is a step up from the 2021 last year with captivating energy and mineralité, focused with gorgeous citrus fruit. The palate is very well-balanced, with a tangy entry and hints of marmalade infusing the citrus fruit with a stem gingertinged finish that has real race and energy. Fans out gloriously - a superb Chassagne in the making here. -- Neal Martin, Vinous Media. The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is another one of the standouts in the range, offering up aromas of citrus zest, mint, crisp green apple, white flowers and freshly baked bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy palate that's suave, seamless and penetrating.-Neal Martin, Vinous Media. Tasting note: This is moderately reduced and unreadable presently. There is slightly better volume and mid-palate density to the caressing but decidedly punchy flavors that terminate in an impressively long, well-balanced and dry-in-the-best sense finale where a hint of bitter lemon slowly emerges. Maltroie isn't typically more interesting than a quality Chenevottes but this one appears to be just that, at least now in any case. Outstanding.-Allen Meadows, Burghound. Pale lemon colour. Softly oaked on the nose, as ever hard to put a descriptor to the personality of this vineyard. The wine does though show an impressive building up of intensity to the back of the palate. Full in the mouth, then finishes fresh, says Alex. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted: November 2023. |
