Description: | 94 points Jeb Dunnuck. The 2016 Lirac checks in as 70% Grenache and the rest Mourvèdre, Syrah, and other permitted varieties, with the Mourvèdre and Syrah brought up mostly in demi-muids. Blackberries, garrigue, peppery herbs, licorice, and earth characteristics give way to a full-bodied, pure, elegant, beautifully textured 2016 that has remarkable purity and length. It's one of the finest Liracs out there. (8/2018) 92 points James Suckling. Bright flowers and sappy, purple-berry aromas. Some cassis, too. There's a smooth, elegant and fresh core to the palate. Bright and lively. Drink or hold. (8/2018) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Dark, plummy and rich, Usseglio's full-bodied 2016 Lirac has turned out as well as I hoped when I tasted it last year. It's creamy and lush, yet it shows no heat or dried fruit, just plush, hedonistic pleasure. It's a blend of 70% Grenache and 10% each Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah, aged 12 months in concrete vats (50%) and oak demi-muids (50%). (jc) (8/2018) Jancis Robinson. Baked black fruit, raisins, clove, milk chocolate â" an attractive array of flavours here, even if they do finish quicker than expected. Fine chalky tannin. Displays good potential to improve with age. (rh) 16.5/20 (10/2017). |
