Description: | This fine Xo Cognac owes its freshness and purity to the vivacity of the Tesseron house's eaux-de-vie's. It displays an especially attractive combination of vigor and complexity, which several ice cubes bring out perfectly - a first encounter with a great cognac. Made from the finest terroir 's in Cognac -Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Petite Champagne and Fins Bois, from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes - Lot n°90's unique character comes from long aging in oak barrels, which adds richness and complexity. This prestigious Cognac house is owned by the Tesseron family with Alfred Tesseron at the helm. Alfred is widely known for producing top notch Pauillac wines at Chateau Pontet Canet and St.-Estèphe at Lafon-Rochet, but his family has been making fine Cognac since 1905, starting with Alfred's grandfather, Abel Tesseron. Abel's son Guy, Alfred's father, ran the house for over 30 years until handing over the reigns to Alfred and his brother Gerard. 3 Stars / Recommended by the Spirit Journal / F. Paul Pacult : 'Eye-catching topaz/honey color; dazzling purity. The opening smells include pears, apples, and soda water; additional air contact releases delicate, fruity scents of banana in brandy, maple and new oak. The palate entry is light and grapy ripe; the midpalate is chewier in texture, more honeyed in taste than the entry phase and tropical fruit-like. Finishes satiny smooth, sugary/piney sweet, and medium-long. Nice job.' |
