WBC Top Wines #6 - St. Supery Moscato

I've already revealed number seven of my seven favorite wines from the 2009 Wine Bloggers Conference, the 2005 Yates, Alden Perry Reserve.

We now continue our countdown. Weighing in at number six:

St. Supéry Moscato 2008

The perfect pairing with any dessert with lemon or peach flavors. And I mean perfect! If you come by my house any time in the next year, I'll be serving a lemon sorbet just so I have an excuse to break this Moscato out.

I didn't get to try it with chocolate, but I want to.

Stacy Slinkard, the wine expert at about.com, said of the 2005, it "is the perfect wine to pour over an evening of romance. It will highlight both white chocolate and milk chocolate, supporting the chocolate's velvety texture and enhancing the mild tannins with its peaches and cream palate profile".

Bean at Wine and Beer of Washington State normally doesn't like sweet wines, but even she was won over.

Bean writes the Moscato is "reminiscent of biting into a perfectly ripe peach. You know the kind that I mean, where the peach juices run down your chin with each bite?"

I know the kind you mean, Bean. But those peaches are available only a few weeks a year. This Moscato you can enjoy any time.

And according to Ron Barber, the St. Supéry chef, the Moscato would also be "great with spicy Asian food and absolutely amazing with bleu cheese."

I've tasted Ron Barber's food. He's amazing! If he says it will go great with spicy Asian food or bleu cheese, I believe him.
