Comte Georges de Vogue Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, Chambolle-Musigny (750ml)

Pinot Noir from Chambolle-Musigny

Vintage: 2009
Description: De Vogüé's 2009 Chambolle-Musigny was even better, as the vintage is so well suited to near-term drinking, especially at the village level. Totally seductive and engaging, the 2009 Chambolle was a thrill a minute to drink. There are times when wine is all about pure, unrestrained pleasure. This was one of those moments. What a fabulous bottle!. 93 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jun 2013). A similar but slightly riper nose includes blue berry and plum nuances that precede the more obviously mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract on the extremely pure and utterly delicious finish that is shaped by the buried tannins and given energy by the perfectly integrated acid spine. This is a seriously lovely effort. 90-93 points, Allen Meadows' Burghound (2011). The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru is a big step up from the Chambolle villages in this vintage. Bright red berries, flowers and spices are supported by vibrant layers of underlying minerality. I very much like the energy and focus here. The wine turns darker and richer with time in the glass. Hints of plum and black cherry linger on the structured finish. This is a 2009 that will need at least a few more years in bottle. The 1er Cru is made from young vines in Musigny. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. 92 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (Apr 2012)
