Sivas Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County, California

Sivas Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County, California

Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2011
Description: The inspiration at Sivas-Sonoma comes from Donny Sabastiani's Grandfathers can-do spirit, and the Sebastiani family passionately continues this heritage into their second century of winemaking in the Sonoma Valley. The name Sivas (SEA-vis) is the modern-day Turkish derivation of "Sebasteia," the city named for Emperor Augustus 2000 years ago, and the historical origin of the Sebastiani surname. For the 2011 Sivas-Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon, nearly half of the fruit was sourced from the gravelly soils of the Alexander Valley which are recognized for producing sumptuously rich red wines with true character. Other sub-appellations - namely Sonoma Valley, Knights Valley, and Russian River Valley - play supporting roles here, seamlessly blending to showcase the depth and diversity of this world-class growing region. Extended aging in both French (50%) and American (50%) oak lends subtle hints of vanilla and cardamom. Ripe, velvety tannins are smooth across the mid-palate leading to a pleasant, lingering finish.
